One of the best resources for information on specific railroads are the Railroad
Historical Societies. A number of these are in existence for railroads who served
(or are still serving the New Jersey area. Among these are the "Erie Lackawanna
Historical Society", covering the Erie, Delaware, Lackawanna & Western, Erie-
Lackawanna (E-L), The Reading Technical and Historical Society covering
the Reading RR (RDG), and the Jersey Central Railway Historical Society
covering the Central RR of NJ (CNJ). Others are the Lehigh Valley (LV),
The Bridge Line Historical Society covering the Delaware and Hudson (D&H), and
the New York, Susquehanna & Western Technical Society, Inc. (NYS&W). Some
of these all have Web Sites which you can visit directly via the links below.
(Some of these web sites are "unofficial", e.g., the excellent Erie-Lackawanna Web Site
hosted by George Elwood, and the Lehigh Valley site.) Other Historical Societies
addresses are given in a listing in Others. Many independent groups and
individuals have set up their own Web Sites for some of these roads, and these
can be reached via the menu in Prototype Resources accessed from the main
menu. Clicking on the links to the left brings up the main page
for the indicated historical society.
